Dry skin

Dry skin is a common skin type not to be confused with dehydrated skin, which is a skin condition any skin type can experience reactions of. As skin types are genetically determined, they most often can’t be changed completely – and though they’re not dependent on conditions such as seasons or extraneous factors, these elements can affect your dry skin’s reaction.

Meaning, what you can do is regulate your routine and make your best efforts to accommodate your dry skin’s needs and cravings to keep it soothed and hydrated, thereby minimizing potential skin damage and unpleasant effects. Key advice before moving on: Hydrated skin is happy skin.

Skincare kits for dry skin

So, what’s the essential routine for dry skin? We gathered some thirst-quenching products for the purpose (we listed the products in the ideal order for your routine):

Cleansing Balm: A gentle and vitamin-infused cleanser that keeps the skin velvety soft.

Intense Hydra Serum: Provides intense hydration to leave the skin soft and balanced.

Niacinamide Lifting Mist: A barrier-strengthening facial mist that offers the skin immediate and intense hydration whenever, wherever.

Daily Hydra Cream: Formulated with hyaluronic acid to provide immediate and long-term hydration.

Intense Hyaluronic Mask: A replenishing weekly mask that offers the skin an immediate and long-lasting moisture boost to leave it smooth, glowy, and soothed.

If this routine sounds like everything your skin has been longing for, you can easily add these powerful products to your skincare shelf with our kit. If your skin needs extra care, we recommend applying our Vitamin Face Oil after your moisturizer to prevent moisture loss and seal the enriching ingredients while adding long-lasting moisture and nourishing vitamins.

Be mindful of temperatures

When it comes to dry skin, temperatures matter. For example, long (overly) hot showers are a no-go, as high temperatures can dry out the skin even further. Generally, gradual temperature fluctuations can worsen reactions, meaning it can also make sense to use more moisture-rich products in the colder (and therefore also drier) season.

What is dry skin?

Dry skin is caused by a lack of oil production in the skin. In other words: Your skin is not able to replenish all its layers efficiently by itself nor retain the moisture encapsulated. The following consequence is that more moisture evaporates from the skin than is absorbed. As a result, dry skin often feels tight, rough, and itchy, and is prone to flaking and cracking. But as dry skin is genetical, it’s not necessarily something you’ve done wrong that has resulted in these reactions – however, something might have accelerated the symptoms, especially if you haven’t tailored your routine to meet your skin’s needs properly. That’s where we enter the picture.

How do I treat dry skin?

When it comes to dry skin, the magic word is moisture. This means incorporating products that replace the moisture your skin isn’t able to produce itself, while ditching stripping products that remove your skin’s natural oils. A good place to start is to invest in a nourishing moisturizer and a facial oil to follow up with. While your moisturizer will quench deep within the skin layers, the facial oil will seal all the moisture, thereby preventing it from evaporating. It’s also highly beneficial to add a weekly, hydrating mask to the mix to boost your skin from time to time. Cleansing is also an essential part of every routine no matter your skin type – however, it’s always a good idea to take your skin type into account when choosing yours. For dry skin, we recommend you opt for an oil-based cleanser that’ll gently remove make-up and build-up while moisturizing the skin.

Go-to ingredient for dry skin

Two words: Hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid has the unique ability to provide matchless hydration to the skin by working as a sponge that attracts moisture to the skin and retains it deep within. A highly beneficial ingredient for every skin type, but especially suitable to turn dry and flaky skin supple and bouncy.
